All the upcoming Sci-Fi movies in 2019

From alien invasions to space battles to post-apocalyptic adventures to everything else in the realm of endless possibilities, there are plenty of potentially great (and probably some not-so-great) science fiction movies on the horizon that will bring in 2019-20.

Curious to know about the list?

So, here is the list of what new science fiction films are coming this year and next year also.

Replicas

Replicas are just one of Keanu’s seven upcoming projects, and it looks to have a lot of promise. The movie will follow a scientist who becomes obsessed with bringing back his dead family members following a tragic traffic accident. The film is being directed by Tanya Wexler with a story written by Stephen Hamel.

Men in Black: International

A Men in Black spin-off movie titled Men In Black: International will hit in 2019, and it’s said to expand the world of MiB in the same way that Jurassic World expanded that franchise. Before you ask, no, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones aren’t expected to reprise their roles. Wouldn’t be surprised to see an uncredited cameo or two, though.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is an upcoming motion picture set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the twentieth movie installment in the Marvel movie timeline, as well as the eighth installment of Marvel Phase 3.

Captive State

Captive State is an upcoming Chicago-set sci-fi movie that’s set 10 years after an alien force has taken things over. It’ll explore the lives of both sides of the conflict.

Avengers: Endgame

In Avengers: Endgame, also known as Avengers 4, adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers -- Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, and Bruce Banner -- must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos -- the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.

Ad Astra

Ad Astra will follow an Army Corps engineer on the search across the galaxy to find his father, who disappeared 20 years ago while on a mission to find alien life. The film is being directed by James Grey.

Gemini Man

Gemini Man is an innovative action-thriller starring Will Smith as Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move. The film is directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ang Lee and produced by renowned producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison. Also starring are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, and Benedict Wong. Gemini Man opens in theaters October 4, 2019.

Dune

A new adaptation of the Frank Herbert classic, "Dune." "Dune" spawned five sequels written by Herbert, and inspired a 1984 film adaptation by David Lynch, and in 2000 two mini-series made by the SCI FI Channel, computer games, a board game, and a series of prequels and sequels co-written by the author's son Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

Justice League 2

Justice League 2 is the upcoming sequel to Part One. It will a part of the DC Extended Universe, and will be directed by Zack Snyder and would unite the DC comic characters Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, Green Lantern and Flash.

Hellboy

The news of Hellboy getting rebooted with a new cast without Ron Perlman caused a minor uproar among fans. But it was calmed down later when it was announced that ‘Stranger Things’ actor David Harbour was cast in the titular role. The film will be directed by Neil Marshall. The film also stars Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, and Sasha Lane. The production on the film has begun and the film has an official release date of 12th April 2019. Hope we get to see the fan favorite hero back on the big screen in an amazing manner.

The Division

Based on Tom Clancy’s hit video-game of the same name, this film will be set in a near-future where a bioterrorist attack has paralyzed the social structure of New York City. In order to restore the balance, a special agency called the Strategic Homeland Division, or simply the Division has been brought into action. As various factions try to gain control of whatever power they can have over the city, the scientists try to find a cure. Meanwhile, rogue entities are building a stronghold in the city. The film is set to be directed by David Leitch, the director of films like ‘John Wick’, ‘Atomic Blonde’ and ‘Deadpool 2’. Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain have already been cast in the leading roles.

Chaos Walking

om Holland and Daisy Ridley’s career quickly escalated when they donned the roles of Peter Parker/Spiderman and Rey, respectively. Holland has proved himself as a promising actor by appearing in films like ‘The Impossible’ and ‘The Lost City of Z’, and has gained his own set of fandoms after becoming a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Daisy Ridley had been a part of independent films before she got her first big break in the form of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. It is the presence of these promising actors in ‘Chaos Walking’ that has us so excited for it. The story is set in a futuristic world and a new planet where every thought is readable. But when Todd Hewitt finds Viola Eade, he realizes that she is the key to solving the puzzle of this new place. The film is scheduled to release on 1st March 2019.

Terminator Reboot

Deadpool Tim Miller will be directing the upcoming Terminator Reboot movie that will celebrate the return of legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger. It goes without saying, we should definitely expect this to be some sort of passing of the reins to a new young generation so that Hollywood will still be able to continue making more and more Terminator movies. Nevertheless, it is going to be a classic huge budget sci-fi movie for summer 2019.

The Six Billion Dollar Man

The movie will star Mark Wahlberg playing the role of Steve Austin, an officer in the military who happens to be enlisted in a top-secret governmental program after experiencing a near-fatal accident. With the help of cutting-edge technologies, the main character was turned into the world’s first fully bionic man. And while some of us may not be the biggest fans of Mark Wahlberg, the true sci-fi lovers are surely expecting this one to finally come out.

Star Wars: Episode IX

Said to focus on a new generation of heroes and could feature appearances by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. Writer-director Colin Trevorrow (at 2015's D23 Expo) states, “This is not a job or an assignment. It is a seat at a campfire, surrounded by an extraordinary group of storytellers, filmmakers, artists, and craftspeople. We’ve been charged with telling new stories for a younger generation because they deserve what we all had - mythology to call their own. We will do this by channeling something George Lucas instilled in all of us: boundless creativity, pure invention, and hope.” Leia Organa, played by Carrie Fisher, will return in Star Wars: Episode IX using previously unreleased footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

The giant monster Godzilla has been around since 1954, but the newest version of the character is set to hit theaters in 2019. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will pit Godzilla against three of his most iconic enemies Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. The first movie in this Godzilla series was released in 2014 and directed by Gareth Edwards, but this sequel will be directed by Michael Dougherty and be released on May 31, 2019. Godzilla: King of the Monsters doesn’t seem to have very many actors returning from the first movie, but has gained an impressive cast none the less including Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, and Kyle Chandler.

Dark Phoenix

The next movie in the long-running X-Men series is called Dark Phoenix and will focus on the younger version of Jean Grey played by Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner. The movie will continue the story from the previous X-Men movies, but mainly include the younger versions of the characters that were first seen in X-Men: First Class. The film has been delayed once, but the current release date for Dark Phoenix is June 7, 2019.

Alita: Battle Angel

Alita: Battle Angel is an upcoming sci-fi movie that is based on Yukito Kishiro manga Battle Angel Alita that ran from 1990 to 1995. The movie is being co-produced by James Cameron, with Robert Rodriguez directing the film. Rosa Salazar is playing the cyborg Alita, but the movie will also star Jennifer Connelly, Eiza González, Mahershala Ali, and Christoph Waltz. Fans only have to wait a few more months to see this Sci-Fi adaptation, since the film is coming to theaters on February 14, 2019.

Avatar 2

Although we may not have all the plot details for Avatar 2 yet, it will certainly make a stunning sequel to 2009’s most hyped movie, with James Cameron making his triumphant return to the game. No doubt, James Cameron also used to announce the chapters 3, 4, and even 5 coming out too, but we aren’t really sure the series is ever to make it that far.

Cyborg

Actor Ray Fisher is currently playing the role of Victor Stone, aka Cyborg in the DC Extended Universe. He briefly appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had a bigger role in the Justice League and is supposed to be getting a solo movie in 2020. Fisher was rumored to be leaving his superhero role, but the actor has since confirmed that he has no plans to step away from the role for the foreseeable future. Not a lot is known about the Cyborg solo movie, but the film may be using a scrapped storyline from Justice League.
